Terms of use

1. Purpose of the service
LabelRating is a free service allowing artists to publicly share their experience with music labels, through ratings and written reviews. Using the site implies acceptance of these terms.
2. Who may post a review
Anyone who has had a real, personal professional relationship with the label concerned may post a review: signing a contract, releasing a track or album, distribution, negotiations (successful or not), or any direct collaboration.
Posting requires two things:
- an artist name, always disclosed to moderation;
- a link proving the collaboration with the label (a release on a streaming platform, a Discogs entry, a press page…). Without usable proof, the review is not published.
The author may ask for their artist name not to be displayed publicly; the review then shows "Verified artist". This option does not waive verification in any way: moderation knows the author and checks their proof in every case. The proof link is never made public.
3. Content rules
By posting a review, you undertake that it:
- describes your own genuine, first-hand experience;
- stays factual and verifiable as far as possible (timescales, commitments made, promises kept or broken);
- contains no insults, threats, discriminatory statements or personal attacks on an individual;
- discloses no information covered by a confidentiality clause and no third-party personal data (staff names, contact details, confidential figures);
- contains no advertising, promotional links or commercial solicitation;
- does not infringe anyone's intellectual property rights.
4. Opinion and defamation
Published reviews are the personal opinions of their authors. They do not commit LabelRating or its operators. A review expressing a negative experience is legitimate; a false factual accusation damaging the honour or reputation of a person or company may, however, constitute defamation and carry legal consequences.
You remain solely responsible for what you publish. So draw a clear line between what happened to you ("I went unpaid for eight months") and what you assume ("they steal from everyone"). If your dispute involves an offence, it belongs in court; this site is not a tribunal and cannot settle a contractual dispute.
5. Moderation
Every review is read before publication. LabelRating reserves the right, without notice and without detailed justification:
- to refuse publication of a review that breaches these terms;
- to remove a published review if a breach comes to light later;
- to block submissions from abusive or automated sources.
Moderation is done by people, with the limits that implies: we check compliance with the rules, not the truth of every statement, to which we have no access.
6. No score manipulation
The following are strictly prohibited and lead to removal of the content concerned:
- reviewing your own label or a company you are connected to;
- reviewing a competing label in order to damage it;
- paying for, soliciting or organising the posting of reviews, positive or negative;
- using scripts, bots or multiple identities to multiply submissions.
7. Rights over published content
You retain ownership of your review. By publishing it, you grant LabelRating a free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce and display that content on the site for as long as it is published. You may request its removal at any time (see the privacy policy).
8. Labels mentioned and link with the publisher
Label names, trademarks and logos displayed belong to their respective owners. They are cited for information and identification purposes. A label finding a factual error on its page may report it; reviews, however, are not removed on the label's request alone.
LabelRating has no commercial or ownership link with any listed label, with one openly declared exception: the site is published by Rylaris Music Group, which is itself a label and therefore appears in the catalogue. This is flagged by a visible notice on that label's page and set out in the independence charter. The rules in these terms apply to that label exactly as they do to every other.
9. Reporting
Any manifestly unlawful content can be reported to contact@rylarismusic.com, stating the URL, the nature of the problem and supporting evidence. We review every report within a reasonable time.
10. Liability and availability
The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of continuous availability. LabelRating cannot be held liable for decisions made on the basis of published reviews. Before entering into any contract with a label, consult a qualified legal professional.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [publisher's country]. Any dispute falls under the competent courts of that jurisdiction, after seeking an amicable solution.
